PHINMA Education Partners with Bukas to Launch Tuition Installment Plans Payable in 12 Months

PHINMA Education, a fast-growing network of schools in Southeast Asia, partnered with Bukas, an education financing platform, to provide affordable gadget installment plans to students in eight colleges and universities across the country.

“To ensure that learning will continue despite our current situation, PHINMA Education launched both flexible and distance learning programs that utilize printed modules and virtual support,” said PHINMA Education Chief Operating Officer (COO) Christopher A. Tan. “However, we recognize that our students may not have the tools they need to access virtual support. This partnership aims to help them without weighing heavily on their budget.”

He explained that under the partnership, college and graduate students enrolled in PHINMA Education schools can avail of a mobile device through two flexible Bukas payment plans: 6 months at 0 percent interest and 12 months at 1 percent interest per month.

“Bukas is excited to be part of PHINMA Education’s mission to safely reopen classes with the needs and resources of their students in mind. With this partnership, we are bringing our financing services to those who need it the most. We have already funded tuition for thousands of students and are committed to supporting thousands more,” said Bukas Country Manager JR Emlano.

The gadget installment plans have so far been rolled out to PHINMA Araullo University in Cabanatuan, PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College, PHINMA University of Pangasinan, PHINMA UPang College Urdaneta, PHINMA University of Iloilo, PHINMA Saint Jude College in Manila, and PHINMA Republican College in Quezon City.

“We hope that partnerships with like-minded organizations such as Bukas will translate to better academic performance, fewer dropouts, and brighter futures for our students as we navigate education during and after the pandemic,” emphasized PHINMA Education COO Tan.

Given the pandemic this year, PHINMA Education is offering both flexible and distance education under its FlexLearning and RADLearning programs. The former allows students to study from home and only attend face-to-face classes when it is already safe and the government allows them. The latter is 100% home-based and intended for students who live farther away from school and have accessibility concerns. Both learning modes will be significantly aided through the use of a smartphone for remote teacher coaching and a peer support system.

Bukas, an ErudiFi company, is an education financing platform on a mission to democratize access to higher education in the Philippines. Launched in 2019, Bukas partners with leading universities to offer affordable tuition installment plans for Filipino students and is licensed as a financing company with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines.”

PHINMA Education, established in 2004, is the education services subsidiary of PHINMA Corporation, a Filipino-owned conglomerate with investments in education, property development, hospitality, and construction materials.
