OUR STORY IN NUMBERS
Since acquiring PHINMA Araullo University in 2004, PHINMA Education’s population has reached 74,187 students in SY 2019-2020, making it among the largest school networks in the country. Around 44% of these students are under a differentiated tuition scheme that allows them to afford a college education no matter their background. Because of its commitment to making lives better through education, it displays steady growth not just in enrollment rates but also in revenue and other financial indicators.
- Despite the challenges faced by the education industry, PHINMA Education still welcomed 71,659 enrollees, just a 3% decrease from 74,187 students in S.Y. 2019-2020.
- For calendar year 2020, the company achieved revenues of P2.6 billion, an 11% decrease over the previous fiscal year, resulting in a consolidated net loss of P168.2 million. The decreased revenue and profits is attributed largely to the shift in academic calendar (no summer classes were held and the regular school year started in late August instead of June in previous years), which moved the recognition of some revenues to the following year. This also meant that for 5 months in the year, overhead expenses continued to be spent without the expected revenue from classes.
- Overall, accounting for revenues that will spill over the following year, on a consolidated basis, the company is optimistic that it will be in break-even position for S.Y. 2020-2021.
