The Medical City Iloilo (TMC Iloilo) and PHINMA University of Iloilo (UI) have established a stronger Nurse Training Program through the Clinical Nurse Residency Program (CNRP). The CNRP aims to equip students with advanced knowledge of healthcare and help them become highly skilled and globally competitive healthcare professionals. The program provides all necessary training to accelerate the student’s progress and facilitates the hiring and employment transition of successful candidates.

Since 2017, TMC Iloilo and PHINMA have been collaborating on talent upskilling and career linkages. Through the CNRP, 23 Nursing graduates were hired, of which seven will start their review in January 2023 for the May 2023 NLE.  TMC Iloilo is sponsoring the Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) fees and an in-house intensive review. It also commits to hire the graduates regardless of the results of the board examination.

“We want a bright future for the nursing graduates of PHINMA UI. TMC Iloilo is committed to providing continuous innovation and global competence in healthcare. As a training ground for PHINMA UI nursing students, we are happy to provide them with opportunities to learn and earn at the same time, while we help them prepare for the board examination,” said Dr. Felix Ray Villa, the TMC Iloilo’s Chief Executive Officer.

Mhelen Ardo, PHINMA UI Nursing Graduate Batch 2022 shared: “I was planning to work after graduation to save money for my board review and help my family with our daily needs. When TMC Iloilo announced that they would sponsor our review, pay for the week-long in-house intensive review, and employ us even before the NLE results, we felt that it was an answered prayer. It was truly a blessing for me and my classmates. This was possible through the dedication of PHINMA UI to source partners to help us have a brighter future right after graduation. From being exposed to clinical work to getting hired as a nurse resident, I’m glad to be part of this big program!”

PHINMA UI got a 93.10% passing rate for first-time takers in the November 2022 NLE. The school continues to produce board passers and top-notchers. PHINMA Education commits to produce high-caliber graduates who will pay forward to becoming better citizens of this country.
