PHINMA Education Expands Access to Quality Higher Education for 7,000 More Underserved Students in Indonesia
PHINMA Education, the largest higher education network in Southeast Asia, is set to open its doors to 7,000 more underserved students in Indonesia with the completion of a new 10-story building at Horizon University Indonesia in Karawang, West Java.

The expansion underscores PHINMA Education’s mission to make lives better through accessible, high-quality education for underserved families in Southeast Asia. The new facility, now the tallest university building in Karawang, increases its total capacity to nearly 10,000 students.
“Across the PHINMA Group, our mission has always been to unlock opportunities for underserved families: by providing homes, building better infrastructure, creating jobs through hospitality, and opening doors through education. This building is a testament of our earnest desire to give the best to our students, because they deserve nothing less than the best education.” said PHINMA CEO Ramon R. del Rosario Jr.

The Horizon East building was inaugurated on November 12, in a ceremony attended by PHINMA CEO Ramon del Rosario Jr., PHINMA Education President and CEO Chito B. Salazar, PHINMA Education Country Head for Indonesia Dr. Raymundo Reyes, Triputra Persada Horizon Education Foundation Chairman Ade Hendriawan, Triputra Group President Director Tjandra Karya Hermanto, Triputra Group Vice President Commissioner Hadi Kasim, local government officials, and industry partners in Indonesia.

PHINMA Education entered Indonesia in 2019 as an education partner of the Triputra Persada Horizon Education Foundation in managing Horizon University Indonesia in Karawang and Kalbis University in Jakarta. Both institutions are part of the Horizon Education network, which aims to develop a new generation of “Global Indonesians” who are ready to work, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the nation.
Horizon University Indonesia has quickly earned recognition for the strength of its academic programs. Its Nursing, Accounting, and Management programs have achieved high accreditation levels from the Indonesian Ministry of Education, and the university recently received the Best Passing Rate Award for the Indonesian Professional Nursing Competency Examination in West Java. The university also recorded a 100% passing rate in nursing and midwifery, and employment rates of 86% overall, reflecting its strong focus on job readiness.
With its expansion, Horizon University Indonesia plans to introduce new programs in Education and Social Sciences, complementing its existing courses in Health, IT, and Business. Meanwhile, Kalbis University will soon launch Nursing, Midwifery, and Education programs.
“Our next step is East Java. By establishing a campus in Surabaya, we will open our doors to serve a market of 100,000 graduating SHS students. With campuses in both West and East Java… Horizon Education will be well-positioned to broaden its reach and make quality education even more accessible,” said PHINMA Education Country Head for Indonesia Dr. Raymundo Reyes.
