PHINMA Education and CARD MRI: Partners in education and service

PHINMA Education Laguna network and CARD MRI are partners in enabling students to have quality education and preparing them for a service-oriented job.  CARD MRI’s mission is to improve the quality of life of socially-and-economically challenged women and families towards nation building.  CARD stands for Center for Agriculture and Rural Development Mutually Reinforcing Institution. PHINMA Education, on the other hand, strives to make lives better by providing accessible and quality education to underprivileged youth.

Through the partnership, all CARD MRI incoming freshmen students are entitled to an automatic 50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees in the PHINMA Education Laguna network. For the current school year, there are a total of 409 recipients of CARD MRI’s scholarship program from the two PHINMA Laguna schools. The students are taking up various courses such as BS Psychology, BS Accountancy, BS IT, Bachelor of Elementary Education, BS Hospitality Management, BS Tourism, BS Criminology, Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education Major in Electrical Technology, BSBA – Marketing Management, BSBA – Banking and Microfinance, Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English / Filipino.

Additionally, CARD MRI is currently going around the PHINMA Education schools to promote its many job opportunities. It has various job openings in its head office in San Pablo, Laguna for product specialist, quality assurance, application developer and executive assistant.  It also has the following opportunities in its branches nationwide:   account officer, teller, internal auditor, claims processor and insurance processor.

Recently, a career talk was held at the PHINMA Rizal College of Laguna (RCL) in Calamba and PHINMA Union College of Laguna (UCL) in Sta. Cruz. At these talks, the students learned more about CARD MRI, its mission, business, and organization. The PHINMA RCL talk was facilitated by Ms. Marissa D. Carandang, Senior Regional Director of Operations Department CARD Bank, Inc. and Mr. Joven N. Robes, Deputy Director of HR Unit CARD Bank Inc. Mr. Iranio M. Rivera Jr, Regional Director of Operations Department, CARD Inc. and Ms. Alqueen B. Ricablanca, Senior Personnel Manager of HR Department CARD MRI Information Technology Inc. led the discussion at PHINMA UCL.

“CARD MRI provides financial assistance to its members which they can use to put up their own business and get a better life. Patience and perseverance are key in order to achieve one’s goals”, shared Ms. Marissa D. Carandang, Senior Regional Director of CARD Bank. 

Mr. Iranio M. Rivera Jr, Regional Director of CARD Inc, said “Having a good job or managing your own business after graduation is not an easy task to do, but everything is possible through the BAR of life – – BELIEVE in yourself that everything is possible, do an ACTION for a better RESULT. Never give up!”

“These activities allow our students to be more aware and expose themselves to microfinance as an industry. This will also benefit both the employer and students. The students will learn from our reputable partners and this will later on help them in their future decision making about what industry to enter,” according to Mr. Ed Arevalo, COO of PHINMA Laguna network. 

PHINMA Education has nine schools namely PHINMA Araullo University in Cabanatuan, PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College, PHINMA University of Pangasinan, PHINMA University of Iloilo, Southwestern University PHINMA in Cebu City, PHINMA Saint Jude College in Manila, PHINMA Republican College in Quezon City, PHINMA Rizal College of Laguna, and PHINMA Union College of Laguna. It also aims to expand across Southeast Asia beginning with Horizon Education in Indonesia.

CARD MRI has offices nationwide including areas where PHINMA Education schools are located – Laguna, NCR, Iloilo, Cabanatuan, Pangasinan, Cagayan de Oro and Cebu and other Asian countries like Hongkong, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
